原料紹介｜ランタナ（Lantana）

▎エッセンシャルオイル紹介

ランタナ（Lantana camara）は常緑の半つる性低木である。熱帯アメリカ原産で、約300年前にオランダ人によって台湾にもたらされた。草丈は1.5〜3m、小枝は四稜形で逆向きの鋭い棘のような質感を持ち、株全体に刺激的な異臭がある。葉は対生し、広卵形で鋸歯縁、両面に短く硬い毛が生える。四季を通じて開花し、頭状花序が散房状に配列する。花托の下部には線状披針形の苞があり、花冠は高杯状で先端は不規則に4〜5裂し、裂片は広く短く平開する。花冠は初め黄色やピンクで、後にオレンジや濃赤へと変化する。果実は核果で球形、肉質で滑らか、成熟すると藍黒色となり房状につく。品種は多く、黄花、白花、無刺などがあり、盆栽、庭園樹、生け垣の植物として用いられる。

伝統的な薬草記載では主に葉の効能が重視されており、本草では「味は苦く寒性で毒あり」とされ、これはケトン類の特性を指す。枝葉および未熟果実には毒性があり、誤食すると慢性肝中毒を引き起こし、発熱、衰弱、嘔吐、下痢、歩行不安定、呼吸促迫、昏睡、黄疸などの症状が現れる。ただし精油には毒性はない。

台湾では生命力旺盛なランタナの株が至る所で見られるが、精油の抽出は遠くマダガスカル産のランタナの葉から行われる。香りは温かく強く、イヌラ酮（インラケトン）を高比例で含む。

▎成分解析

｜主成分：セスキテルペンケトン、セスキテルペン

成分は主にセスキテルペンケトンおよびセスキテルペンで構成され、イヌラ酮、ランタデン（Lantadene）、ランタノリック酸（Lantanolic acid）、ランタニック酸（Lnatic acid）のほか、フマレン（Humulene）、β-カリオフィレン（β-Caryophyllene）、γ-テルピネン（γ-Terpinene）、α-ピネン（α-Pinene）、ρ-シメン（ρ-Cymene）などの微量成分を含む。
